FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does your practice as a therapist differ from others?

Exploring coping skills, behavior patterns, and goal setting are core components incorporated into my mental health and wellness practice. I provide a compassionate and strengths-based perspective during therapy, pulling from your own resiliencies. I channel my innate ability to attentively listen and empathically question you during therapy to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement and growth. I use behavior modification and emotion regulation methods to focus on improving coping skills and problem solving. I specialize in several therapeutic modalities which I incorporate in sessions. My clinical training and skills allow me to provide unbiased and honest feedback while supporting you to ultimately overcome presenting challenges.

What will our therapy sessions be like and what should I expect from you as my therapist?

Therapy is most effective when clients feel like their therapist is a good fit, so I believe it is important to build a trusting and collaborative relationship with my clients- which can take time. During the intake process, I take a person-centered approach to get to know my clients, while asking questions that best explore their own expectations, needs, and goals for therapy. Recognizing the various biopsychosocial factors and dynamics that people come to therapy with, I first assess the primary areas that they want to focus on and go from there. Using a variety of therapeutic interventions and modalities, I tailor my approach differently with each client to best serve their individual needs and goals in treatment. I use a psychodynamic framework to explore the internal and external connections to presenting problems to best address and process them. Making progress in therapy is unique for everyone and as a therapist, I strive to align with, guide, and empower my clients to create meaningful and productive lives.

Do you offer support groups?

Yes. I offer bereavement support groups, typically consisting of 6-8 participants at a time for an inclusive and personalized approach to group grief work. Each group is held for 8 consecutive sessions that are 1 hour long. My group session fees are $50/week and a sliding scale fee is available based on financial needs.
